Vivid Scenes was my final project for my first year at Calarts in the design program. I had to conceptualize an imaginary exhibition at the Hammer Museum as well as create the poster for the event.
My research led me to many artists, such as Jane Callister and Ernesto Caivano and their contemporary take on landscapes. This art, since it is not truthful to reality, may contain unrealistic landscapes featuring super-stylizations and varying patterns and textures--I wanted my poster to reflect that.
Originally, I had three concepts for the poster, in addition to a slew of sketches; but after a number of group critiques and revisions, I landed on Vivid Scenes, which reflected the fantastical nature of the work in the exhibition.
